Course Architect

Robert Trent Jones, Jr.

By accomplishing his goal to create a rare, pure "core golf" experience, Robert Trent Jones, Jr. has called CordeValle perhaps the finest golf course design of his career.

This comes from someone who has won worldwide acclaim for his designs at locations such as The Links at Spanish Bay (Pebble Beach, Calif.), The Four Seasons Resort in Nevis (West Indies), The Raven Golf Club at Sabino Springs (Tucson, Ariz.), Golden Valley (Japan), Hyogo Prefecture (Japan) and The Prince Golf Course (Princeville, Kauai).

"The location had so many great possibilities that it was difficult to decide which to choose. CordeValle is one of those pure 'core golf' experiences. It is perhaps my finest golf course creation."

– Robert Trent Jones Jr.

Cradled by the inland slopes of the Santa Cruz Mountains, the golf course at CordeValle is protected, verdant and intimate. The natural topography of the 260 acres that flow through the valley made it a perfect candidate for Jones' innovative use of the landscape. The result is a seamless blend of natural and man-made obstacles, from meandering creeks to sand bunkers, sycamore trees to strategically placed tees.

Now chairman of Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course Architects, the world's pre-eminent golf course architecture firm, Jones has designed more than 245 golf courses in more than 40 countries on six continents during the past four decades.
